VZV keratitis: Definition, Uses, and Clinical Overview
VZV keratitis is corneal inflammation caused by varicella zoster virus (VZV). It is most often discussed in the setting of shingles affecting the eye area (herpes zoster ophthalmicus). It can involve the corneal surface, deeper corneal layers, or both. The term is commonly used in eye clinics to describe a specific cause of keratitis and guide evaluation and monitoring.
