Hospital Clinica Catolica, San Jose, Costa Rica
Costa Rica
It all started like a dream... our objective was to provide the people of Costa Rica with health, width=well being and a new alternative to private medicine. In the year 1952, the need arose to create a private medical health care center that would provide an answer for the people?s need, since the Costa Rican public health care system was saturated. That is how a group of nuns from the Franciscan Sisters Congregation of Immaculate Conception and a group of doctors decided to begin building such a center and on March 16, 1963 they opened their doors putting themselves at the service of the ill and the general public.
As the time passed La Clínica Católica became distinguished in the country for their unique attention and total commitment to the health and life of each of their patients. This institution was known as Clínica Católica for twenty six years, during the following seventeen years the name was changed to Hospital Clínica Católica de la Purísima Concepcion Association.
In 2006 an ambitious process of administrative and infrastructure changes began, transforming the facilities into a new one of a kind concept for medical service in Costa Rica and that time the name was changed once again to the current one, Hospital HOTEL Clinical Católica. On August 16, 2007 we obtained the Certification of Hospital Empowerment for a term of five years.
The Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission International, which is the international branch of The Joint Commission International (USA); its mission is to improve the quality of healthcare in the international community. For over 75 years, the Joint Commission and its predecessor organization have been dedicated to improving the quality and safety of healthcare services. It evaluates approximately 16,000 healthcare programs through a voluntary accreditation process.
